Scotland-wide Student Meeting on Palestine – 17th October
See also our Facebook event.
Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Edinburgh are hosting a Scotland-wide Student meeting on Palestine on Sunday the 17th of October.
This will be a day of information and skill sharing, workshops and networking. We hope to share ideas for future activities, to learn from past projects and to shape our campaigning within the context of a collaborative network of like-minded students and student societies throughout Scotland.
The day will take the form of four meetings/workshops, and a feedback and planning meeting at the end of the day.
These will be:
Right to Education Week: Speakers will feedback from the Right to Education conference in Birzeit University this summer and will facilitate a discussion and brainstorm on Right to Education week in November.
Media and communications: This workshop will aim to inform strategies for dealing with the media and using it as a tool for communication with the student body and the wider community.
BDS: A discussion on the role of BDS and a means of campaigning on it on campus and beyond.
Networking and collaborative events: A practical discussion on means of networking on a Scotland-wide scale and laying foundations and brainstorming for collaborative projects.
Feedback: This last session will sum up the conclusions/main points/action points of each workshop/meeting and tie these together with the whole group.
We hope that by the end of the day we will have some concrete action points for building a wider network and collaborating on specific projects, and that we will have shared ideas and knowledge to inspire future campaigning.
Venue: The meetings will take place at Pleasance: (postcode EH8 9TJ). Unfortunately, the rooms
we have booked are not wheelchair accessible. If this poses a problem, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you.
We should (hopefully!) be providing lunch (but donations welcome!). More details to follow.
Please let us know if you are coming/how many people from your society will be attending so that we have an idea of numbers.
If you need to stay overnight please let us know ASAP and we will do our best to find you some crash space.
