In 2005, EUSA affiliated to the ‘Right to Education’ campaign at Birzeit University and to the Friends of Birzeit -a UK registered charity. It also twinned with the Birzeit Student Council (BSC). See this post for the text of the resolution.

Birzeit University is a Palestinian University in the West Bank which has initiated the Right to Education campaign. Its aim is to inform about the impact of Israeli policies of occupation on the Palestinian education system.

School and university closures, administrative detentions, restriction of the freedom of movement, destruction of the educational infrastructures are some of the challenges that Palestinian students have to face as a consequence of Israeli policies.

SJP has chosen to show solidarity with Palestinian students. Following the EUSA resolution, it has organised a “Right to Education Week” and is working toward tightening the links between Edinburgh University and Birzeit University students.
